Cathedral Splendours

25 May

The pictures I wish to share with you are taken in 2009 and are taken from various points within the Chilean Santiago Cathedral

This Cathedral must be one of the most beautiful cathedrals within the religious world

The first two are Religious iconic relics and are elaborately displayed

The remaining pictures are of various statues surrounding the walls and the overhead pictures are of the beautiful paintings adorning the ceilings done in brilliant colours and gold leaf

Looking at these paintings could only be appreciated if one could appreciate the famous Sistine Chapel as done by Michael Angelo

The beauty of Chile really does shine through its religious fervour and its cultural pride in its religion

My next trip to Chile I hope to further explore the magnificence of their cathedrals and also again return to the fairyland world of the great Chilean port of Valparaiso

Wishing my friends much love and happiness

Lovely Ian… Churches and Cathedrals are always a favourite place I visit when ever Im abroad.. Itay has some beautiful ones So has Austria I am always in Awe at such paintings upon the ceilings as they didn’t have the modern day scaffold like today. Being an armature artist of sorts I fully appreciate the detailed painstaking work that goes into such creations, not only that, but the perspective they gave, some creating the illusion of hollow arched out domes when in fact the ceilings themselves were flat. Amazing.. and Michael Angelo being one of the Greats.. A beautiful entry Ian.. one I hope to see more of from your many places you’ve travelled and explored Sue
