Chilean Art And Memories

22 Apr

One of the many interesting highlights of sightseeing around the beautiful city of Santiago Chile South America was the diversity and talents of the artists from this Third World Country

I for one saw many aspects of this city and country that certainly belie the title

of Third World

One being the beautiful artistic talents of the street performers

These performers range from various ages, from the young pavement artists through to the mannequin street model posing as a miner and then to the old man performing magic for the wide eyed children and adults who still get pleasure from simple magic tricks

I share with you these pictures of my Santiago adventure

The first picture is of a young boy painting an image of the Virgin Mary on a pavement in Santiago down town

The second is of a street model posing as a statue of a miner

He was extraordinary and never moved until you were close enough when he would move and scare the hell out of you

The third picture is of an old magician performing magic feats for young and old It was obvious he enjoyed giving pleasure

The fourth picture is of a Mapuchee indian who obliged me with a colourful photograph

And the final picture is of a beautiful Saint Bernard dog that is part of the Chilean army search and rescue team used in the Cordillera del los Andes

Not sure why this pic is one of my favourite memories but it could be because the dog looks so cute

Having said that I hope these pictures will also bring pleasure to you

The Chilean peoples are certainly a culturally artistic people

Cheers

Ian

You have really brought the streets of Chile to life here Ian.. Aa truly remarkable place full of culture and pride… People have great talent, I bought some Ink paintings while abroad and then another time some art from some students.. Much more satisfiying than buying from Art shops!.. And I those street statues have often made me jump… LOL….
A wonderful Place, which you have brought to life here on your page….
    many thanks for sharing

Hi Ian I always loved those pavement drawing so much talent it’s truly amazing stuff. The Chilean people are indeed artictic the St BERNARD is beautiful and what a job he does, they love to work don’t they. Great shots the stillness of those people how do they manage to keep so still. Enjoyed your insite to this lovely place thank you for sharing. Take care and have a lovely Easter. Sheila 🙂
