A Dreamtime Lament in a Mothers Cry

Beneath the Gidgee tree

Alone in memories she sits

The gentle evening breeze

Caressing her weathered face

A weathered ancient face

Furrowed brows ingrained

With the red earths soils

A face that carries the story’s

Of the times of crossing

The vastness of her lands

The vastness of Australia’s

Vast outback

She feels the gentle evening breeze

Upon her cheeks

Yet does not stir

But sits in quiet thoughts

The gentle breeze

Is as cobwebs

Soft and silky

Yet brushing away

Her hurt and sorrows

She speaks alone

In her mind

She speaks in tongues

Of different times

And hears the wisdom

Of the ancient ones

Her Elders

The keepers of the dreamtime

This mother heeds their words

This land belongs to all

Little sister of the dust

Yet this land belongs to you

Her thoughts are thoughts

Of wisdom

Passed by mouth

Yet handed down

From Ancestors from the past

Her Dreamtime

Beneath the Gidgee tree

She sits alone

The Elders have spoken

She is now

The keeper of the past

The keeper of the dreamtime

A tear falls

From the darkness

Of her eyes

The spirits of the past

Are present

As real as you and me

For in dreamtime

Wisdom is passed down

Through the Soul

Of those of the land

The Soul

Of those of the soil

This mother of the earth

Hears with eyes

And sees with ears

She trembles in the cold night air

Yet trembles for her children

Lost to white mans coming

Torn from a mothers breast

She trembles

As the Elders from her past

Speak words of beauty

Words of love

And words that bind her

To this land

She sees faces

Of her past

And holds the hands

Of her children free

Children torn from a mothers breast

But now are free to roam

This fair land

Free to roam hand in hand

With the spirits

From the past

She fights back the tears

As she recalls

The wailing of her children

Torn from a mothers breast

She hears the mournful howl

Of the dingo

In the darkness of the night

A dingo calling for its family

From deep within her breast

Her heart is rent asunder

Memory’s tearing at her Soul

A mother cry’s

For her babies

She howls into the night

Long deep drawn out howls

Her cry’s are intermingled

With the plaintiff cry

Of the dingo

The dingo howls for his family free

A mother howls

For her children of three

And now she sits

Beneath the Gidgee tree

She howls for her children

She howls for you and me

Yes I feel her tears and I cry also, for our Ancestors Lament of Dreamtime lost.. for Mankind has lost its way… has lost his Dreams.. to be caught in the material chaos that consumes him.. He has forgotten his connection with our Earth Mother.. She cries, and bleeds, and roars and shakes.. Her breath of fire is not far from exploding her rath.. she cries for all of us…..
